LAS VEGAS, June 27, 2023 —
Elementum today at Snowflake’s annual user conference, Snowflake Summit 2023, announced the availability of License Patrol, a Snowflake Native App that allows Snowflake customers to quickly identify and reclaim unused software licenses, all within their Snowflake accounts.
License Patrol was developed in partnership with Snowflake. Snowflake’s IT team developed an internal machine learning app, SnowPatrol, that automates the end-to-end SaaS license lifecycle to optimize for cost. Seeing strong interest in the app from customers across the Data Cloud, Snowflake collaborated with Elementum to develop License Patrol, a Snowflake Native App currently in development.
Snowflake, the Data Cloud company, announced that the Snowflake Native App Framework (public preview on AWS) is now available for developers to build and test apps natively in the Data Cloud with additional distribution and monetization capabilities in public preview soon. Snowflake Native Apps usher in a new era of data collaboration, enabling developers with the tools needed to create robust apps quickly with Snowflake’s high availability and auto-scalability, all the while reducing security and procurement hurdles for customers because the apps run directly within the customers’ Snowflake accounts.
“By partnering with Snowflake to productionize their internal license optimization app as a Snowflake Native App called License Patrol, Elementum is making it easier for Snowflake customers to gain visibility into SaaS app usage patterns. This will help them optimize license utilization and decrease annual license costs,” said Sunny Bedi, CIO & CDO at Snowflake. “Because License Patrol is a Snowflake Native App, customers can install it in their Snowflake account where their SaaS data already resides.”
Snowflake Marketplace already has over 25 Snowflake Native Apps available today, and over one hundred Snowflake Native Apps currently in development spanning multiple industries and use cases. Elementum is one of the leading organizations building in the Data Cloud, and their Snowflake Native App will bring unique insights to end users by enabling them to unlock value with just a few clicks on Snowflake Marketplace. By being Powered by Snowflake, Elementum will be able to create new revenue streams by distributing its app to thousands of Snowflake customers, without these customers having to move or expose their data.
License Patrol uses data-driven workflows to automatically identify underutilized software consumption and take action on software license exceptions, requests, and renewals. Built using the Snowflake Native App Framework, Elementum’s License Patrol will enable customers to gain complete visibility and control over their software license lifecycle.
“Unused software licenses cost organizations upwards of $65 million a year, a significant drain on resources that could be better utilized elsewhere,” said Nader Mikhail, CEO and Co-founder of Elementum. “Our partnership with Snowflake aims to address this issue head-on, signifying our commitment to delivering solutions that not only meet the evolving needs of modern enterprises but also drive significant operational efficiencies and cost savings.”
