Corning and Elementum Team up to Improve Global Supply Chain Management

Mountain View, CA. – May 16, 2017 – Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW) is collaborating with cloud-based supply chain platform, Elementum, to gain real-time insights into global operations. With the adoption of Elementum’s Product Graph™, Corning will continue to put customers first by implementing the kind of innovative solutions that have enabled Corning to maintain a competitive edge for over a century.

Disrupting the Supply Chain Models of Old
Supply chain visibility is crucial to running an agile operation that identifies and enables the resolution of potential issues before they affect customers. Corning’s new supply chain management model—powered by Elementum’s Product Graph and Issue Management capabilities—can provide a foundation for best- in-class supply chain management.

Specific goals for the supply chain solution identified by the company included:

  • Seeing end-to-end supply chains in a global context
  • Proactively adjusting to changes in real time
  • Supporting organizational changes that accelerate decision making
  • Identifying sources of new business opportunities and efficiencies

“When it comes to supply chain, it’s all about how quickly a company can take action; however, responding to problems is only as effective as the corrective levers that are at the organization’s disposal. With real-time insights, our supply chain will be able to react immediately, instead of waiting weeks or months after a problem arises,” explained Vice President Cheryl Capps, global supply chain at Corning. “I am extremely proud of the steps Corning has taken over the past few years to optimize supply chain. And with Elementum’s Product Graph, built by some of the brightest minds in the industry, we expect to have the levers to be truly agile.”

Implementing an Agile Supply Chain
Elementum delivers industry leading cloud-based collaboration capabilities, as well as end-to-end visibility and real-time insights across every segment of the supply chain: Source, Transport, Manufacture, and Inventory. Starting with the Transport and Source applications, Corning plans to expand its usage globally as they gain adoption across the organization. With at-rest and in-transit inventory visibility, logistics tracking, alerts for internal and external impacts, industry intelligence, and performance metrics, Corning can utilize the power of real-time data to increase supply chain velocity. With Elementum’s Situation Room, executives will have a central “Mission Control” from which to manage their global supply chain, based on data aggregated from all Elementum apps. These new capabilities will help build supply chain management into a strategic competitive advantage for Corning.

“It is a privilege to be serving a company fueled by more than 160 years of vision and innovation,” said Nader Mikhail, founder and CEO of Elementum. “This collaboration with Corning validates Elementum’s mission, and the opportunity to help them tackle global-scale problems is a challenge we relish.”
